Quick and the dead rankings (2048 Week 8)

NOT QUICK ENOUGH



Being a QUICK team means having a target on your back as other teams look to catch and ultimately pass you making a team no longer quick enough.

In week 8, the #1, #3 & #5 QUICK teams all lost shaking up the top of the rankings including 2 major upsets as the #15 Regulators knocked off the #1 Mellotrons and the #19 Far East knocked off the #5 Airborne.

The #4 Hammers won big versus the #3 Fightin Amish and reclaimed the top spot in the rankings for the 4th time in 8 weeks.

The #15 Regulators Upset of the #1 Mellotrons moved the Regulators up to #5 while the lose dropped the Mellotrons all the way down to #9. The Regulators improved to 2-2 versus QUICK teams this season after going 2-15 versus Quick teams from 2043-2047.

The #19 Far East Upset of the #5 Airborne moved the Far East up to #14 while the Airborne fell back to earth and landed at #15.

The long standing #32 Muskies got their first win of the season, 23-21 over the #26 Corsairs. The win moved the Muskies up to #27 and they relinquished the title of "The Deadest of the Dead" to the Black Sharks. The win for the Muskies is a rare occasion as the team has gone 13-154-1 (.077) since 2038.

Quick and the dead rankings (2048 Week 9)

THE SAME OLD SONG & DANCE



Week 9 saw the majority of teams hold serve as 9 of the 10 QUICK teams won with the one lose coming versus another QUICK team.

The complete opposite happened with the DEAD teams as 9 of 10 DEAD teams lost with the one win coming versus another DEAD team.

The AND team went 6-6 this week as the 6 wins came versus 3 AND teams & 3 DEAD teams. The 6 loses came versus 3 QUICK teams & 3 AND teams.

The biggest Upset of the week came between 2 AND teams separated by 7 spots in the rankings.

With all that being said, the Status Quo doesn't tell the entire story as we have a new #1 team & a new #32 team this week.

The Buffalo Chips moved into the top spot after defeating the #6 Bakers for the first time in francise history. In the 30 year history of the Quick and the Dead, the Chips have made the postseason just 3 times including just 2 times in the past 9 seasons.

Since the Rankings were instituted in 2026 (23 seasons), the Chips have never finished a season ranked higher then #11 which occurred in 2029, 20 seasons ago.

The title of "The Deadest of the Dead" has been passed to the Aurora Borlealis after losing to the #18 Rampage to fall to 0-9. They are the 5th team in 9 weeks to hold the infamous title.

For the 2nd straight week, the QUICK went 9-1, the AND went 6-6 and the DEAD went 1-9 as the QUICK and the DEAD have mirrored each other two weeks in a row.

There were no upsets at all in week 9 as the biggest difference between a team winning versus a team ranked higher was 1 ranking spot. It happened 2 times as the #14 Ramage beat the #13 Treasure and the #18 Ukraine United beat the #17 Fighting DeLucias.

The top 6 ranked teams are the cream of the crop and they shuffled among themselves with the Hammers reclaiming the top spot for the 4th time this season.

The Mellotrons have held the top spot for 2 weeks with the Rattlesnakes, Fighting Amish & Chips all holding the #1 ranking 1 week each. The Monarchs are the only top 6 team not to hold the #1 ranking so far this season but have been ranked #2 in 3 weeks.

The Aurora Borlealis held onto the title of "The Deadest of the Dead" for the 2nd straight week after finishing last season as the 32nd ranked team.

The Muskies have held the 32nd ranking for 4 weeks this season, the Black Sharks held it for 2 weeks while the Cut Throat's & Storm held it 1 week each.

THE QUICK KEEP WINNING



For the 3rd straight week the QUICK go 9-1 as the top 7 teams remain the same in a slightly different order but the defending Champion Hammers remain #1 for the 2nd straight week, 3rd time in the past 4 weeks and 5th time in the past 7 weeks.

The perennial contending Quicksilver lost big to the Rattlesnakes in week 11 and fall to 3-3 versus QUICK teams this season. They have fallen out of the QUICK tier on 4 separate occasions this season through 11 weeks which is the most time they have spent out of the top 10 in francise history. The Quicksilver trail the Fightin Amish by 1 game in the South Division and are in danger of not winning the division Title for the first time in 11 seasons and just the 2nd time in league history.

The title of "The Deadest of the Dead" has been owned by the Muskies in recent history with the Black Sharks, Aurora and the Storm holding the title periodically throughout the last several seasons but in week 11 of this season, the Virgins said "Hold my beer" and grabbed the infamous title thanks to an 0-11 record including 4 shutouts where they have been outscored 329-70 this season.

Quick and the dead rankings (2049 Preseason)





The 32nd season of THE QUICK AND THE DEAD begins its Preseason tonight and this marks the 26th season where the QUICK AND THE DEAD rankings will be around.

The defending Champ Mellotrons finished last season and begins this season in the #1 spot of the rankings. It's the 3rd time that the Mellotrons's finished a season ranked #1.

The record belongs to the Hammers who have 7 seasons where they finished #1 in the final rankings.

The St. Lawrence Muskies once again finished a season ranked 32nd with the Title of "The Deadest of the Dead" for a record 7th season.

An interesting fact is that the Mellotrons are the only francise to have finished both #1 & #32 in a season. Before the Mellotrons moved to Bratislava in 2038 they played in Seattle where they finished 32nd in 2028.
