I played the Airborne, an AI team and their kicker went 2 of 6 on fieldgoals so put of curiosity I checked their kicker to make sure they actually had one.
They did and he was a solid kicker with 100 kick strength and 93 kicker accuracy which didn't make any sense so I checked their kick holder.
He was their backup QB and he had a 49 kick holding rating which seems to indicate the importance and having a decent kick holder for making fieldgoals.
It's not something I've done a deep dive on in the past but it's definitely food for thought when it comes to the kicking game.
Checking this year's stats, the top 2 kickers with over 90% fieldgoal accuracy have kick holders of 89 & 100 which checks out.
The next 2 kickers with the most made fieldgoals but percentages in the 70s have kick holders of 66 and 49 (Airborne).
The next 3 kickers have:
93.3% & 98
86.7% & 71
100% & 54 (breaks pattern but kicker is 100% accuracy)
It's just something to keep in mind and watch out for!!!
