GG Lemon! Great season and sorry it didn't end with a Title for you!!!
The longer I play MFN, the less I seem to understand about this game!
I've always been under the impression, shared by others that QBs need to develop play knowledge over time along with having decent attributes to succeed at the highest level.
QB Anthony Sheperd seems to throw all that out the window. He was drafted in the 7th round by the Green Bay Bullfrogs (now the Lincoln County Regulators) in 2038.
From 2038-2041 (4 seasons) he languished on the bench never playing a snap, not even in the preseason.
In 2042, he wasn't on a roster the entire season and essentially his career was over before he had a chance to play a game.
In 2043, the Baltimore Thunderbolts (now Fayetteville Airborne) signed him to a 4 year/10.1.million dollar contract where he finally played in 3 preseason games.
2043 1 preseason start (50 plays)
2044 2 preseason appearances (34 plays)
In 2045, prior to the preseason, he was traded to the Quicksilver for two 3rd round picks where he held a clipboard but didn't play a single snap until week 16 where he finally got his 1st career start in a regular season game in year 8 of his career.
He was only afforded the opportunity because the team was locked into the #2 seed and the game was meaningless (or at least so I thought)!
He preformed great in that start going 30/42 for 308 yards, 2 TD & 0 into with a QBR of 108.04.
The playoffs began and he went back to the bench where he was suppose hold a clipboard for the rest of his life.
In the Wildcard round, QB Michael Craft was hit on a completed pass play and broke his foot!
In comes Shepherd and 3.25 games later, he led the team to a Title!
So does a player acquire play knowledge even if they don't play at all?
Shepard is OK attribute wise but definately not elite and his intelligence is just 54 which should indicate he is a slow learner. He has 95 pass accuracy, 100 Look off defense & 94 vision but also 54 intelligence, 50 pass release, 62 arm strength & 12 speed.
And to be clear, I changed nothing about my offense to try and protect him. He went 79/121 in 3 starts for 1,013 yards with 8 TD/4 INT/5 SACKS & a QBR of 99.64
He shouldn't have been able to do what he just did because he had almost zero experience & minimal play knowledge.
Happy but Confused,
CJ
