2039 off-season thread

Welcome to the 22nd season of the Quick and the Dead.

Gigantic props to the Hammers and Armoredgiraffe for winning his 2nd straight Title...winning 1 is hard enough and 2 straight is a fantastic feat.

The target is squarely on him now and 31 teams are hungry!

We have 3 openings with 1 going real soon as an old friend returns to the game.

Good luck everyone in free agency and like always team customizations are free to all if you want to change anything

These have been my picks. In average, they seem ok, 5 good ones and 4 bad ones... but... check the positions. All my defensive picks (save one) have been small busts. And those were actually my main needs. I gambled on a 2nd QB (now I have 4) to see if he went up a lot, maybe for trades, etc, and he went up only a little. Oh well...

notice: the positions I may change, I still have to check
4.20
Shawn Jamar, FB
vol 90
+12/+7

6.20
Douglas Sayre, WR
vol 72
+4/+5
He's a bit too slow at 72, sadly.

2.20
Lonnie Flores, DT
vol 22
+6/+3

1.20
Keith Shields, QB
vol 34
+4/+2
My future QB, almost surely

5.20
Norman Hubbard, QB
vol 100
+3/+3
I was hoping his high volatility would make him much better, to be hones

Bust
-------
3.25
Adam McCartney, LG
vol 100
0/-13

7.20
Richard Sandstrom, RT
vol 88
+1/-2

3.20
Dwain Bruno, DT
vol 52
+4/-2

3.4
Jimmy Martin, RG
vol 22
+4/-2

1.32 OL Roy Elman with 14 vol busts for -6(******* joke) but should still be starting at LT for a few years

2.1 LB Floyd Farrell with 84 vol booms to shoulder the MLB mantle from Ironman Darren Pierre

2.31 QB James Evers with 96 vol booms to be the heir to Daniel Wiles but might be too rough to move the needle this season

3.32 WR Chad Pappas with 60 vol busts but luckily the Hammers need to be cap conscious the next few seasons so he gets to keep his job

5.32 TE Kevin Thompson with 46 vol booms to make one of the aging TEs expendable. Doesn't have great speed but hopefully becomes a technician of sorts

6.32 OL Isaac Lemoine with 62 vol booms with the team hopefully his Pass Blocking becomes high enough to be a career backup that can push any pile

7.32 OL Leonard Hoffman booms but had his contract voided immediately as the team found out he used inflatable arm muscles throughout the pre-draft process

Going to become tricky to stay at the top these next couple of seasons. Aging vets in key areas and a lack of picks next season will make the error margin slim. Good luck this season everyone!

Mixed bag in Blue Rock. I didn't rename Sam Gomez as he was highly unlikely to make the team unless he boomed a lot. He didn't so whatever, he was a 7th round pick anyway. The 2 OL I drafted are converted TE, one boomed one didn't.

Happy to see my playmakers boom, I was getting old at RB/WR. Hope Yngwie and Iommi can make sweet music in football.

Not so much for my defensive picks, as Tom Morello is too busy with all of his SiriusXM shows (seriously, dude has like 3 shows) to devote time to football and Zakk Wylde didn't pan out.

10 draft picks and 7 will find a home as I had several nice booms. Pretty happy overall.

First draft for me in this league...Mixed results.

1st rd) This one hurt. #4 overall pick William Chase (10/-10) busted pretty bad. I hoped he would be the long term SS. Now, after seeing the results of the rest of the class, Chase will move to LB

2nd rd) FS Ryan Bohn 13/0 solid. After the 1st rd, I can't complain.

3rd rd) TE Michael Standifer 14/2. Good camp. He is a better blocker than receiver and was already a little heavy. So I had plans to move him to OL. But my OLine class boomed later on, so he can stay at TE.

3rd rd pt 2) OL Robert Miner 12/8 Very good camp

4th rd) LB Manual Campo 6/1 Meh...I needed LB depth, so OK...

5th rd) LB Paul Cone 4/-5 I have to cut 3 guys, and he is at risk

6th rd) CB James Singleton. 13/10 Star of camp. He doesn't have elite speed to be the #1 or 2...But moves into the slot position right away.

7th rd) C Patrick Rhone 6/5. Good camp, solid depth player. Drafted as the long snapper...lol

UDFA) FB Shoemaker 8/3. A WR in college, elite blocking skills and already 200+ made him a FB potential. Good camp. We will see where he ends up when he finishes gaining weight.

UDFA) DE James Richards...0/-8. Came to camp as a good athlete...Will be leaving camp very soon.

Both of my 1st's boomed along with my 5th, and my 3rd stayed pat. The rest were either cut before camp or shortly after.
