The Quick and the Dead Playoff Picture
We are 10 games into the season so let's take a look at the current playoff picture and figure out who are the contenders and who are pretenders.
AMERICAN CONFERENCE
1. Tokyo Far East (9-0-1)
2. Indianapolis (8-2)
3. Blue Rock Heisenbergs (8-2)
4. Oak Island Treasure (7-3)
5. Hamburg Blue Devils (7-3)
6. Texas Outlaws (6-4)
7. Utah Raptors (6-4)
8. Mayfield Bakers (5-5)
9. San Antonio Rampage (4-4-2)
10. Duluth Timbers (4-6)
11. Oklahoma City Cheetahs (3-7)
12. Synn City Chupacabras (2-7-1)
13. Letterkenny Shamrocks (2-8)
14. Buffalo (2-8)
15. Vancouver Bears (1-9)
16. Portland Pioneers (1-9)
While all 16 teams are still alive for a playoff spot, only 10 teams are within 2 games of either a division title or Wildcard spot. Both Oak Island and the Tokyo Far East have 4 game division leads and seem locks to make the playoffs. The North division is the most competitive with 3 teams seperated by just 2 games.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE
1. Niagara Falls Rapid Fire (10-0)
2. Great Falls Quicksilver (10-0)
3. Chicken Wing Foghorn Leghorns (9-1)
4. Hawaii Black Sharks (7-2-1)
5. Bermondsey Lions (8-2)
6. Detroit (6-4)
7. Philadelphia (6-4)
8. Tampa Bay Corsairs (5-5)
9. St. Lawrence Muskies (5-5)
10. Columbus Cardinals (4-6)
11. Rock City Cyclones (3-7)
12. Omaha Storm (3-7)
13. New Orleans Voodoo (2-7-1)
14. Seattle (2-8)
15. Carolina (1-9)
16. Green Bay (1-9)
Much like the American Conference, all 16 teams are still alive for the playoffs but only 10 teams are within 2 games of a potential spot. All four division leaders have at least a 2 game lead with Great Falls, Niagara Falls, Chicken Wing and Hawaii seemingly a lock to make the playoffs. Bermondsey is 2 games out of the division title but hold a 2 game lead over the next best wildcard candidate. That leaves 1 spot for available for 5 teams seperated by 2 games.
