We can get things we don't want, like 17 game seasons and 14 playoff teams, please give us something we want, like this fixed.

My whole point is this is definately a bug or glitch in the game code. No matter how bad someone's punt formation is......8 punt blocks in a game is ridiculous because the other team has a 95 speed DB lining up on the other side.

After the first punt block, clearly coaches would change the protections and double team the guy.

After the 2nd or 3rd one, they would chop block the guy in an attempt to hurt him.

After the 4th one....you would just go for it on 4th down instead of trying the same thing over and over.

This falls under:

HEY JDB....THIS IS BROKE....FIX IT

Yeah. Look at the clip of how Bill belichik praises Ed Reed's ability to rush the punt. And he blocked how many again?

4. Ed Reed has blocked 4 punts in his career, which proves what exactly? In the 100 year history of the NFL, there has been 32 instances where a punter had more than 1 punt blocked in a single game. 32 times in 100 years worth of games. Only 2 of those 32 involved more than 2 punts blocked. Jim Fraser of Denver had 3 punts blocked on 12/8/1963 and Steve Broussard of Green Bay had 3 punts blocked on 9/21/1975.

That "one of the best to ever do it" really didn't do it that often.

It should give an indication of how rarely it happens, which should prove as a base to how it should be programmed. Punts can be interferred with, without getting blocked too though. That's important to count as well, imo. (like pressures that doesn't result in sacks, but still ruin the play)

Question for you CJ, in the leagues that you run, could you set up ground rules that using the punt block exploit is not allowed and warn players that use it? Then if worst case happens remove them from the league?

Seriously? I have noticed in depth chart autosetting that there is nearly no need for Override if you have fast players in your roster.
So not allowing punt blocks would bring you to override the auto-setting and replace fast players with slow ones. On the other hand you can't find out if s.b. uses the exploit willingly or if it is just coincidence.
So the only possibilty is to change the algorithm by JDB.

I know how its done and I don't do it, why, because I think it's wrong! I have been burned by it
in some games, I still told the owner good game, I felt cheated though! So don't do it even though you can, it's not needed, but what do I know, I'm an old disabled man trying to enjoy this
fine game!

Same. I know a lot of the abuses you can do with gameplanning but don't use it. Do I have FL Hitch in my playbook? Sure. Is it being run 10+ times per game? If so, very randomly. 6 times the past 5, 4 of them in the bowl game.

To clarify, I don't think anybody is doing anything wrong by putting fast, strong players on the edge to try to block punts, but....

The problem is the propensity with which it happens and yet it's rare to see a field goal blocked or batted down in the game (MFN)

Once again, the primary cause of the problem is the speed attribute and until that issue is addressed, perhaps roughing the Kicker penalties should be introduced as at present there is nothing to offset lining up the quickest players you have. Another option would be for the Head Coach to (randomly) call a fake Punt with a dumpoff screen pass to make it a 'double jeopardy' play. ie Get too aggressive with your personnel on ST and you're likely to get yellow flagged or give up a first down/TD.

A 'smart' Coach would quickly spot he is outmanned and adapt to combat his opponent. Either by double teaming the fastest guys with huge O Lineman forcing them to run wide, thus slowing them down. Or being overly physical, increasing the lightweight, speedy guys chances of getting injured. Or he would try to draw an Offsides flag (sometimes I think the game system tries to do this - it rarely works and usually results in a false start penalty). Or he innovates and uses the opponents tactics against them with a fake.
