Pretty sure you can set your line up and depth chart for special teams in the "Depth Chart" menu. That oversight falls on you, bud. Not the programming. If you don't want someone to be used, then make that position's depth deeper.

You seem to be ignoring what I already said just so you can wisecrack, but I am complaining because I had no say whatever about this decision. The depth chart was already full of other players, and I was already using a full roster of 60. This player got pressed into service because he was the best one I had left. The only way I could have avoided this situation was to deactivate this player entirely, which I was loath to do because the "starter" was already injured. If we are forced to expose regulars to injuries, 90-man rosters would be the way to go.

If the depth chart was set adequately the "undesirable" player never should have seen the field in that position. As I said before: Make your depth at that position deeper. One or two players in a position is not always adequate. I'm just trying to get you to look for accidental errors on your part before you go blaming the programming and crying "It's a bug!"

I can't see your depth chart or I would try to help you with this. The game will place the "most qualified" player in any given position, if injuries force it to. It has nothing to do with roster size.

Here we go...... Another Diva Snowflake intent on starting a Forum Flame War.

Word of Warning.......
Don't come after me, because I WILL PUT your Flame out while getting another PM from JDB about being too subtle and not caring about other people's feelings. Bottom line, don't pick a fight if you can't stand a nosebleed.
Anything further from you will be deemed as an attack on me, which I will defend. And the forums will not like how I will defended myself.
You have been warned.

I wasn't aware I was threatening you. I think the snowflake you're looking for is in the mirror.
Edit: Added quote marks. Unlike some people, I do not start flame wars as a hobby.

Really, dude?

You came out with what seemed like a "legit" question from someone only been here for six months, and when the community attempts to answer your question, you replies show just how unappreciateable you are. Which in turn, you attack the ones that are helping you in hopes that their honor and pride will in return reply for your little game

My backup RB got injured blocking for a field goal, but he is not even in the Overrides. Was he automatically in there because he is a "backup?" How do I keep such a thing from happening? I am extra sensitive to this because I had so many problems with injuries last season.

First, make sure you have a full 60-man roster for preseason to ensure you have enough depth to sub folks in and out. What happens a lot in preseason is, since your players are not in football shape yet, they tend to get subbed out for fatigue more than they will in the regular season, and that results in them being unavailable and ultimately the AI having to put players in. Also, be sure your depth chart (not necessarily the overrides, but the standard depth chart) is deep enough especially on the special teams positions. If your override players is not available for some reason, the depth chart will be used, and if you run out of players in the depth chart then the AI will try to put the best rated player available in.

Preseason rosters of 75 would help .. I'm not asking for the 90 in the current NFL .. lol

I may eventually expand the preseason rosters, first though I need to change the cap to only apply to the 53 highest paid players. (The NFL has a top-51 rule during the offseason, but the regular season all 53 players apply to the salary cap, so to avoid confusion of suddenly losing a bunch of cap space at the start of the season I plan to have the cap apply to the top 53 players during the offseason) As it stands right now, you would be hard pressed to get 75 and especially 90 players on your roster and stay under the cap. (But if you did, your cap room during the regular season would be fantastic)

If you are going to appeal to roster size, then the salary cap rules need to be different. Especially after I suffered so terribly with a different backup RB last season, it was pretty alarming to me that this season's backup would get injured blocking for a meaningless FG. If the AI does that, let me make a rule that certain players will not be pressed into service. At least have some common sense about it rather than forcing me to put important players in harm's way.

Please tell me again how you don’t start flame wars. What a RAY of sunshine to be informed.
