I'd make sure he plays a lot in the preseason and then just play your guy with the best current rating during the regular season.
And on the back of that, I wondered what sort of potential changes occur, in terms of range. 5 points? 10? 50?! :)

I've seen a number of players go +10 on potential in MFN-19, including three on my own team. And there was a post in the main forums about a player going +20 in the main forums. The guy that I'm curious about is this one: http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/player/3980
